One of the key functions of the Whittlesea Community Futures Partnership is Advocacy. From the inception of WCF Partnership from 2006 to date it has evolved into a strong collective voice of the key stakeholders of the Community Services Sector in City of Whittlesea. It has been recognised as a key player in City of Whittlesea by Victorian State and Commonwealth Governments. The WCF Partnership is focusing on its key priority areas; family & Children, youth, culturally & linguistically diverse communities (CALD), positive ageing and disability. An ‘Advocacy Group’ has been established in end 2013 and has been working to further strengthen the advocacy efforts of the WCF Partnership. While the ‘WCF Advocacy Working Group’ acknowledges that there is a multitude of pressing issues in the community services sector of City of Whittlesea, the Group will focus on the following issues in the first instance:
- Family Violence,
- Children and Families,
- Financial Hardship,
- Community and Assisted Transport, and
- Youth Issues.
In addition to this, the WCF Partnership will engage/support advocacy initiatives that have a direct or indirect impact on human services delivery in the City of Whittlesea, as appropriate.
